The Confessional is a digital oracle installation of the performance alter ego, Sancta Maria. The installation itself is a handcrafted wooden frame with handmade velvet curtains. Inside this installation is a digital experience using basic robotics and interactive technologies. The user enters The Confessional where they are instructed to put on a pair of earphones and pick up an object that begins the reading process. In the Confessional, Sancta Maria gives 6 random and unique messages to each user. These messages are channeled using a larger divinatory symbolic system of 53 archetypes created by Rica Gudiño called Las Ruedas, or The Wheels. All aspects of concept, performance, fabrication, robotics, photography, art and design by Rica Gudiño.
