Sancta Maria is my performance alter ego that exists in cyberspace in an attempt to immortalize my human form beyond my death and transmute generational trauma. As someone who is mixed race, I embody visions of cultural myths that belong to my family and Mexican Indigenous communities as a ritual of transcending space and time. The visual intention is to Indigenize Catholic aesthetics of classical art by retelling the stories that have been broken and erased by the Catholic institution, giving them new life within a cybersacred space. Sancta Maria is the giver of life in Catholic mythos, and my performance of her is a practice of reproducing myself to explore different facets of light and shadow within my spirit.
